Brain Dead and Loving it!

Having followed all the Marvel Cinematic Universe films since the beginning in 2008, when IRON MAN successfully launched a franchise that seemed unlikely at the time, I am the perfect target audience for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR . I have watched and enjoyed to different degrees all 18 of the previous films deftly produced and supervised by Kevin Feige. The MCU has ingeniously established a strong continuity between films, characters and plot lines progressively crossing over and teasing towards new adventures, until it all beautifully came together in the outstanding first AVENGERS movie (Joss Whedon, 2012). Since then, this kind of consensual, ''Expanded Universe'' style has spilled over other studios, namely Warner, whose DC Universe movies have met with scorn from the critics (Save for the surprisingly good WONDER WOMAN by Patty Jenkins in 2017), and Universal who killed its own Dark Universe with its painfully confused THE MUMMY the same year.  The year is 1992. With a few friends, I leave Montreal in the early hours of the morning to take the plane that will bring us to San Diego, California. The goal of the journey is to partake in the Grand Mass of Geekdom that is Comic-Con. From humble beginnings in 1970 with an attendance of roughly 300 visitors, the Convention had grown into a multi media behemoth by 1992, being crowded by over 22,000 proud nerds, either on a quest for that rare comic book, or hoping to rub elbows with revered artists and has been actors. By this point, Comic-Con had started attracting the attention of Studios, who had rightfully noticed that an event attracting tens of thousands of voracious popular culture fanatics could be a good platform to promote their future nerd-friendly productions. I've always been a fan of unproduced films. Features that have, for better or for worse, remained on the shelves, or even never left the pre-production stage. They may turn out to be insane ideas like A Salvador Dali directed Marx Brothers movie ( Giraffes on horseback salads ) or an absurd cop film starring Nicolas Cage and Robin Williams ( The Defective Detective by Terry Gilliam ).  It could be an abandoned historical drama by Paul Verhoeven ( Crusade with Arnold) or the improbable sequel to Ridley Scott's GLADIATOR (Still starring Russell Crowe!!???). Or even unfortunate and misguided attempts at adapting Comic Books to the big screen (one can't help thinking of the abandoned Tim Burton SUPERMAN LIVES! with Nicolas Cage or the Albert Pyun or James Cameron SPIDER-MAN films).
